Kuala Lumpur, 1 January 2026 – The highly anticipated Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign kicked off in grand style with the Visit Malaysia 2026 Countdown Festival at at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and officiated by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing. The spectacular New Year’s Eve event marked the beginning of Malaysia’s journey towards welcoming 43 million international visitors in 2026, and strengthening the country’s position as a top global tourism destination.
Jointly organised by MOTAC and The Fame Events, the festival presented a spectacular combination of pyromusical fireworks, laser projections, and 3D anamorphic visuals, symbolising a vibrant welcome to 2026. The festivities were further enlivened by the appearance of VM2026 mascots, Wira and Manja, representing Malaysia’s warmth, identity, and uniqueness.
Thousands of visitors enjoyed electrifying performances by Malaysia’s most celebrated and trendy artistes, including renowned artists such as Shila Amzah, Aina Abdul, Belle Sisoski, Vanessa Reynauld, Kidd Santhe, The Kuans, and KLP48. Additional activities across the city, including the VM2026 Bazaar at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, the Arts and Culture Exhibition at Fahrenheit 88, food bazaars, and street performances in Bukit Bintang, offered the public immersive experiences of Malaysia’s heritage and creativity.
